The history of the Kiliani Beer Festival & Fun fair goes back to the year 1030 as an annual event commemorating Saint Kilian (patron saint of Würzburg´s diocese) and is therefore much older than the Oktoberfest in Munich. Even though it is not that big, it is the largest folk festival in Lower Franconia und provides a big traditional parade, two firework displays and great party atmosphere.
2030 marks the 1,000th anniversary of the Kiliani Festival.

In 2024 the Kiliani takes place from July 5th to July 21th.
