Beer Gardens and Beer Cellars

Würzburg offers many beautiful beer gardens with delicious food and beer and a wonderful atmosphere. It's worth discovering them all - because each has its own charm! To get to the beer gardens, you can simply take the tram and arrange your own self-guided beer tour!

Würzburger Hofbräukeller
Jägerstraße 17, 97082 Würzburg

Right next to the only remaining large brewery in Würzburg, the Würzburger Hofbräu, lies Würzburg's most traditional beer garden in the young, trendy Zellerau district - slightly elevated, with impressive chestnut trees. Here, the beers take the shortest route from the tank to the tables. Hungry guests can look forward to down-to-earth Franconian dishes and seasonal delicacies.

Take the tram lines 2 or 4 to the "Wörthstraße" stop.

Biergarten Goldene Gans
Leonhard-Frank-Promenade, 97082 Würzburg

The beer garden near the Alte Mainbrücke invites you to watch the hustle and bustle on the bridge while enjoying a naturally cloudy beer from the in-house brewery in peace. The floor is covered with pine shavings and you can sit comfortably on classic beer garden seating. A fenced-in play area with a sandpit and trampoline keeps the younger guests entertained while the adults relax and enjoy typical Franconian food such as bratwurst, „Gerupfter“ (also known as „Obazda“, a Bavarian cheese spread) and pretzels as well as salads, steaks and burgers.

The next tram stop is "Rathaus". (tram line 1,3,4,5)

Waldschänke Dornheim
Talaveraplatz, 97082 Würzburg

The "Dornheim" is Würzburg's most casual beer garden, as many young and young-at-heart regulars agree. Shady, with gravel and chestnut trees, a 300-year-old fountain, chairs in pastel colors and original decorative elements. There is also a playground and a food counter offering homemade stone-oven pizza and pasta variations alongside the classics. The outdoor area is open until one o'clock in the morning. DJs regularly play in the garden - mainly electronic sounds. There is live music from bands of various styles. There is also an old romantic castle on the grounds of the "Dornheim", which opens its doors as a club at night at weekends - with a focus on electro and techno until five in the morning.

Take the tram lines 2 or 4 to the "Talavera" stop.

Schnitzel variations, bratwurst, pizzas, vegetarian and vegan delicacies as well as Franconian classics taste great with a beer. The undisputed "stars" of the beer garden at the Zollhaus are "Steckerlfische" smoked on beechwood charcoal (Fridays from 5 p.m.) and grilled chicken on Saturdays and Sundays.

Biergarten Jahnterrasse
Dreikronenstraße 2, 97082 Würzburg

The ambience of the beer garden at the Jahnterrassen directly on the Main is inviting and quiet. You sit slightly elevated under tall, shady trees - with an unobstructed view of the old town: a great setting on a warm summer evening! On the plate you will find delicious Schäufele. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are always praised. A large selection of drinks that goes far beyond the local beer is a matter of course here.
